Early one morning in April 1924, Gloria Kail was born in Yonkers. She was brought into this world by her mother Malvina, who was Hungarian and her father Samuel Roth who was Czechoslovakian. Gloria and her brother and sisters were brought up in a strong and loving family setting which made her appreciate and enjoy life. Gloria's mother was a wonderful cook. Gloria enjoyed her mothers' chicken soup the most. Malvina was honored as women of the year in her community for volunteering her time. Her mother taught her how to cook and give back to the community. Her father was a butcher, but not a kosher butcher. She remembers that they had two sets of tableware and had to change it all the time because of her fathers' job. Her father taught her to be honest and to never take the easy way out. He stressed saving money and never to cheat on anything. Celebrating her 16th birthday was a joy for Gloria. It was a surprise and one particular decoration that have stayed in her memory, a pink ribbon wrapped around sugar packets. Eddie was a sweet man, to whom Gloria fell in love with and married. She had a wonderful marriage for over 50 years. Her advice about marriage is to marry someone you love. Life has a different meaning for all of us. For Gloria being happy and spending time with her family means the world to her. She has learned in order to live a good life you must be honest and friendly. She also believes that we should never forget the past especially World War II Gloria stayed at home and took care of her husband and kids just like her mother did before her. She instills the same values to her family as it was taught to her by her parents. The world would be a better place if we had more people like Gloria, who is honest and friendly to everyone.
