United Hebrew celebrates the completion of our new nursing and rehabilitation center with the Beautiful Aging Art Exhibition in the Lazarus Gallery.

Saluting the aging process as part of our life journey, the theme for this exhibition was developed to enhance the United Hebrew Geriatric Center’s celebration of 90 years of caring for the elderly. Artists were invited to create works that depict the aging process with grace and dignity. Bringing joy and healing the spirit, the many works in this exhibition reflect positive images of aging and older adults. These works are inspirational, compassionate, compelling and emotional.

In planning this exhibition, a “Call to Artists” was issued, requesting works in two-dimensional formats from artists who lived and worked in the State of New York. A panel of judges, comprised of leaders in the arts in Westchester County, selected thirty works that make up Beautiful Aging. The judges were: Tracy Fitzpatrick, The Neuberger Museum of Art; Jean-Paul Maitinsky, The Hudson River Museum of Art and Lisa Robb, The Pelham Art Center.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Patricia and Malcolm Lazarus for their generous donation in making the Lazarus Gallery a reality.  Special thanks to Jodi Moise, Curator and Beth Rosen, Exhibition Coordinator.

We would also like to thank ArtsWestchester for their friendly support in propelling us forward with the project and the following individuals that were instrumental in planning the event: Chris Arena, Barbara Davis, Madelyn Jordan, Theresa Kump Leghorn, Yvonne Pollack, and Judith Weber.
