Memoirs Project:
Sharing Their Stories
In the fall of 2006, a collaborative memoirs project was initiated by
United Hebrew, Westchester Community College (WCC) and Pace University. This intergenerational
project brought students from WCC to the United Hebrew campus to interview residents
and write memoirs about the seniors’ personal life experiences.
These cherished moments and remembrances have been recorded in memoirs
written by the WCC students. Students of the Pace University website development
class then structured a website link which showcased these memoirs.

Putting Memories into Words
In addition, another Pace University communications class met with the
Soundview Apartment residents to create poems and essays describing special
memories and cherished moments from our seniors’ lives. They had
the opportunity to spend some time together and share their written stories.
